About Me
Hello there! My name is Jessica Chartrand and I am from the small town of Cowiche. I love being outside and I love the sun! One thing that is very important to me is my family. I have a pretty large family; they mean the world to me! I have two younger brothers and two older sisters. Along with my siblings I have a ton of cousins! All of them are like best friends! I love all the time I get to spend with them.
Ever since I was a young child I wanted to become a teacher. I love working with children and I love sharing what I have learned. While I was in school, I had several teachers who were inspiring and pushed me to succeed. When I become an educator I want to be the inspiration in someone’s life. As of now, I have not decided which grade I would like to teach. I love 2nd and 3rd graders, but I just worked with a 6th grade class and they were so great! Right now, I am really leaning towards wanting to teach 6th grade.
My academic major is Sociology. By choosing this major I was able to learn more about family dynamics and structures, relationships, and human interaction in general. I feel as though focusing on these thing will help me better understand students in the classroom. Knowing how different individuals interact and knowing about varying home lifestyles will give me a better perspective of the different experiences people have. Creating a classroom that promotes accepting differences and being open-minded will increase learning. If I am able to learn about students experiences outside of the classroom, I will be able maximize their learning.
